About us

This is the Home Website for Captain Sherod Hunter’s Arizona Rangers, Camp 1202. We are the oldest Sons of the Confederate Veterans Camp in the state of Arizona representing the Confederate Territory in the most west Theatre of the Trans-mississippi front.

Our Mission as a camp is to is to preserve the history and legacy of the confederacy and their heroes, so future generations can understand the motives that animated the Southern Cause. The SCV continues to serve as a historical, patriotic, and non-political organization dedicated to insuring that a true history of the 1861-1865 period is preserved.

Our Objective as a camp is to engage in a wide range of activities such as preservation work, marking Confederate soldier’s graves, participating in historical re-enactments, developing scholarly publications, and engaging in activism that educates and garners support of the public. We encourage friends and family activities, and also have regular monthly meetings to discuss the military and political history of the War Between the States, as well as sharing literature, thoughts and family history  that promotes historical truth and southern heritage.
